ABCD & Boehringer Ingelheim Award 2019

Rules

Thank you for your interest in the 2019 ABCD (European Advisory Board on Cat Diseases) & Boehringer Ingelheim Award, which aims to reward innovative and outstanding work by promising young professionals in the field of feline infectious diseases and/or applied immunology.

Applications in the fields of both basic and applied sciences are welcome.

The award (1000 €) will be presented by the ABCD at the congress of the International Society of Feline Medicine, to be held from 26-30 June 2019 in Cavtat (Croatia). The registration fees, economy travel costs and accommodation for the recipient to attend this congress will be covered by Boehringer Ingelheim. All reservations will be made by Boehringer Ingelheim in agreement with the laureate.

 

Documents to be submitted (by 15 April 2019)

The laureate will be chosen on the basis of one or more paper(s) and/or a dissertation.

Applications should be made in English, in an electronic format, and include:

  1. a short abstract (max. 500 words) of the work the applicant wishes to submit;
  2. a short curriculum vitae including a list of published articles
  3. two personal references (thesis supervisors or co-authors are permitted);
  4. abstracts of all other relevant publications and/or dissertation on the topic (if any);
  5. the completed form on page 2 of this document.

Papers should have been published, or accepted for publication, in peer-reviewed referenced journal (PubMed, Web of Science, Web of Knowledge) or accepted by another assessing body (e.g. a Thesis Committee) in 2017 or later.

 

The laureate

Candidates should be graduates of studies in veterinary medicine or other life sciences.

Applications from the ABCD members’ clinics or institutes are permitted.

Candidates should ideally be under 35 years of age at the time of application.

Candidates should be based in Europe[1] and should be able to present their results as a short presentation in English.

The laureate is expected to give a short presentation of his/her work (poster optional), in English, at the congress of the International Society of Feline Medicine in Cavtat (26-30 June 2019).

 

Pre-selection

The entire ABCD board and one representative of Boehringer Ingelheim will serve as the pre-selection committee that will draft a shortlist of contenders.

 

The jury

The Jury is exclusively made up of ABCD members including the ABCD Chairperson.

The entire deliberations of the jury will remain strictly confidential.

Candidates will be informed of the jury’s decision by the end of April.

The jury’s decision is final and not subject to appeal.

 

The sponsor

Boehringer Ingelheim will fund the award and cover the registration fees, travel costs and accommodation for the recipient to attend the 2019 ISFM Congress.

 

Intellectual Property Rights

The laureate authorises Boehringer Ingelheim and ABCD to use and to communicate by all means and without limitation of any kind, on the laureate’s submitted work.

The laureate guarantees Boehringer Ingelheim and ABCD that by using the submitted work, they will not infringe on any rights already pledged to a third party.
